A Small but Sweet Studio Kitchen

On Fridays, Kelly over at Kelly's Korner does a series called "Show Us Your Life."  She is currently doing a home tour series, so I thought I would join up for the rest of the series for the rooms that I have in my apartment.  This week she is highlighting kitchens.

Welcome to my kitchen!  Because I live in a studio, the kitchen is pretty small by suburban standards, but it is a good size for one person and it is very nice with all the upgrades.

This is just a close-up so you can see how the apartment owner installed a neat rack under the cabinets for hanging cooking utensils and such.  When I first moved in, I wasn't crazy about the look of this, but it is SO practical.  It is nice to be able to quickly grab the utensils I use most often since the kitchen really only has one drawer that is appropriate for utensils, and I use that for my flatware.

This is the little window of my kitchen and shelving that is on the opposite wall.  The plant in the window is basil.

This is just a close-up of the lower shelving unit.  I wanted you to see how great it is for holding spices!  I also wanted to show a little close-up of the antique pewter and blue sugar container on that shelf.  So awesome, right?

This little manatee is a spoon rest.  Isn't he cute?

Here is the little inset with the fridge.  Definitely a great use of space in a small kitchen! On top is a small rack for wine bottles, a wine-themed serving tray and my recipe binder.

I posted this picture so you could see the pretty herb wreath my dad sent me when I moved in.

Just in case you wanted to see the light fixture, I posted that too.  Probably not what I would choose, but it provides really great light in the kitchen.

I took this picture because I love all three of the main focal points in this picture.  If you don't have a small food processor, you need to get one, like, yesterday.  They are sooo great!  I got mine from my brother for Christmas last year and I love it.  It is the perfect size to sit on the counter and you can do so much with it. They are only about $40.

I know that was a lot of pictures for such a small kitchen, but thanks for touring!  Make sure to hop on over to Kelly's Korner to check out lots of other great kitchens!

  1. I love your studio kitchen! I lived in a studio last year (I put a picture in my post) and yours is so much more spacious than mine and I LOVE that blue on the walls!

  4. Love the color! You made the best of a small space. We live in Army housing and would love some 'upgrades' as far as appliances and counters go!
